A running toilet is the most common call we get, and it wastes the most water. The tank leaks into the bowl past a flapper that no longer seals. The fill valve then refills the tank, over and over.
You can test it yourself. Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and wait 15 minutes without flushing. Color in the bowl means the flapper is leaking.
We replace the flapper and inspect the flush valve seat it rests on. A rough or pitted seat will leak against a new flapper. If the seat is damaged, we replace the flush valve.

Why is there water around my toilet on foggy mornings?
