A camera in the line turns guesswork into a picture. We inspect sewer and drain lines across Pacifica, San Francisco, and Burlingame, locate defects to a depth and a position on the ground, and hand you the footage so any quote you get afterwards can be checked against what is actually there.

Sewer Camera Inspection in Pacifica, San Francisco and Burlingame
Camera inspection is the difference between being told what is wrong with your line and seeing it. A self-levelling head on a flexible rod runs the length of the pipe while a locator tracks its position and depth from the surface, so a defect is not just visible, it is pinned to a spot in the driveway and a number of feet down.
That matters most in two situations. Before buying a house, because the sewer lateral is the single most expensive thing a standard inspection does not look at, and on the older housing stock here it is often clay or cast iron at the end of its life. And before agreeing to any significant drain repair, because a quote to replace forty feet of pipe deserves footage showing why forty feet.
We also camera after clearing a blockage, so you find out whether it was a one-off or a symptom. You get the recording either way. Book a free estimate any time, no obligation.
What’s included
Sewer lateral and main line inspection
Pre-purchase property line surveys
Defect location by depth and ground position
Post-blockage cause diagnosis
Root intrusion and joint failure identification
Recorded footage provided to you
How the job goes
We access the line at the cleanout, run the camera the full length, and locate any defect to a position on the ground and a depth below it.
You approve the price, and our licensed tech does the work from a fully stocked truck, so most jobs finish in a single visit without a parts run.
We record the run, walk you through what is on screen, and give you the footage plus a written summary you can hold any repair quote against.
I had a backed up kitchen drain and David from Works Plumbing came out and cleared the line in a matter of minutes. Very professional and very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!

Why homeowners choose Works
Every camera inspection comes with upfront pricing, licensed and background-checked technicians, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Works Plumbing holds California contractor license #982663, carries full bonding and insurance, and holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
We are a plumbing-only shop, which means the tech at your door has spent years on this exact work rather than splitting time across three trades. Our crews are drug tested as well as background checked, and dispatch is staffed by real people around the clock. No surprises, no commission-driven upsells, no pressure, ever.
Pro tip
If you are buying a house built before about 1975 on the Peninsula, have the sewer lateral cameraed before you close. It is not part of a standard home inspection, replacement runs into five figures on a long or deep run, and it is one of the few findings substantial enough to reopen a price negotiation. It is the cheapest large risk you can retire during escrow.

Ready to get it fixed?
Upfront pricing, licensed techs, and a real human on the phone 24/7 across the Peninsula.
Yes, always, along with a written summary of what we found and where. The footage is the point. It lets you compare repair quotes on equal terms, gives you something concrete for a property negotiation or an insurance conversation, and means you are not relying on anyone remembering the detail correctly six months later. There is also a current offer covering a free camera inspection alongside drain cleaning over a set amount.
Should I camera the sewer line before buying a house?
On older housing stock here we would say it is one of the better inspection dollars you can spend. Standard home inspections do not run a camera down the lateral, and a failed or root-infested clay line is both expensive and invisible until it backs up. Finding it before closing gives you the option to negotiate. Finding it afterwards makes it entirely your problem.
Can you tell exactly where the problem is?
Yes, to a position on the ground and a depth beneath it. The camera head carries a transmitter, and a locator picks it up from the surface, so we can mark the spot on your driveway or lawn and tell you how far down it sits. That is what keeps excavation surgical rather than exploratory, and it is what a repair quote should be based on.
What can a camera not see?
Worth being straight about this. A camera shows the inside of the pipe, so it identifies cracks, offsets, root intrusion, bellies that hold water, scale, and blockages. It does not show the condition of the outside wall, it cannot see through standing water in a badly sagged section without clearing it first, and it will not find a pressurised supply leak, which needs acoustic detection instead. Where the view is limited, we tell you rather than guessing.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes, and there is no obligation attached to it. We come out, diagnose the actual fault, and give you one flat price covering parts and labor before any work starts. If you decide not to book, you owe nothing and we will not chase you with follow-up calls. We would rather you had an honest number to compare than feel cornered into a decision at the door.
Can you come out today?
Usually yes. We run stocked trucks out of all three of our locations in Pacifica, San Francisco, and Burlingame, so there is generally a van already working near you rather than one dispatched from across the county. We offer same-day service, and dispatch is staffed 24/7 including weekends and holidays. A real person answers the phone, so you will know within minutes whether we can be there today.
