A drain snake only punches a hole through a clog. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the whole pipe wall clean, clearing out the grease, scale, and sludge that cause clogs to keep coming back. We jet residential and commercial lines across Pacifica, San Francisco, and Burlingame, with a camera inspection first so we know the pipe can take it.

Hydro Jetting in Pacifica, San Francisco and Burlingame
Jetting works by sending water down the line at high pressure through a nozzle that drives forward and sprays backward, cutting the deposit off the wall and flushing it out ahead of the nozzle. The difference against a cable is the difference between clearing a channel and cleaning a pipe. A cabled grease line has a hole through the middle of the fat. A jetted one has its original inside diameter back.
That makes it the right tool for restaurant and commercial kitchen lines, for residential kitchen drains that have blocked repeatedly, for scale in older cast iron, and for sludge in lines with a shallow fall. It is not the right tool for everything. Jetting a pipe that is already cracked, badly corroded, or offset at a joint can make the damage worse, which is exactly why we camera the line before we jet it rather than after.
If the camera shows the pipe cannot safely take the pressure, we will tell you and propose the repair instead. Book a free estimate any time, no obligation.

Root residue clearing after cutting
How the job goes
We camera the line first to confirm the pipe is sound enough to jet, identify what is coating the wall, then quote one flat price.
You approve the price, and our licensed tech does the work from a fully stocked truck, so most jobs finish in a single visit without a parts run.
We jet the full run, camera it again so you can see bare pipe wall, and tell you what interval would keep it that way if the line has a history.
I had a backed up kitchen drain and David from Works Plumbing came out and cleared the line in a matter of minutes. Very professional and very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!

Why homeowners choose Works
Every hydro jetting job comes with upfront pricing, licensed and background-checked technicians, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Works Plumbing holds California contractor license #982663, carries full bonding and insurance, and holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
We are a plumbing-only shop, which means the tech at your door has spent years on this exact work rather than splitting time across three trades. Our crews are drug tested as well as background checked, and dispatch is staffed by real people around the clock. No surprises, no commission-driven upsells, no pressure, ever.
Pro tip
If a line has needed cabling more than twice in a year, stop paying for cabling. Repeat blockages in the same spot mean the pipe wall is coated or the pipe itself is defective, and a cable addresses neither. Jetting costs more per visit and less per year. Ask for the camera footage either way, because that is what tells you which situation you are in.

In sound pipe, yes, and that qualifier is the important part. Jetting is safe in healthy cast iron, clay, ABS, and PVC at the pressures we use. It is not safe in pipe that is already cracked, heavily corroded, or offset at a joint, because the pressure can worsen an existing defect. That is why we run the camera before we jet rather than afterwards. If the line cannot take it, we will say so and price the repair instead.
How is it different from snaking?
A snake or cable is a mechanical tool that bores through an obstruction and pulls debris back. It restores flow quickly and it is the right choice for a discrete blockage or for cutting roots. Jetting cleans rather than clears: high-pressure water strips the deposit off the full inside wall and flushes it downstream, so the pipe recovers its original bore. For grease, scale, and sludge, that distinction is the whole point.
How often should a commercial kitchen line be jetted?
It depends on volume and on how well the grease trap is maintained, but most kitchens we service settle into a schedule somewhere between every three and every twelve months. A busy restaurant with heavy fry output is at the short end. The economics are straightforward: scheduled jetting is planned and cheap, an emergency backup during service is neither. We will recommend an interval based on what the camera shows in your line.
Will jetting clear tree roots?
It will clear the fine root hair and residue left behind, but roots themselves are cut mechanically first. The usual sequence is cable to cut the root mass, then jet to strip out what remains and clean the wall so we can see the defect the roots came through. Jetting alone against an established root ball is the wrong tool. What jetting does add is a clear camera view of the joint afterwards.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes, and there is no obligation attached to it. We come out, diagnose the actual fault, and give you one flat price covering parts and labor before any work starts. If you decide not to book, you owe nothing and we will not chase you with follow-up calls. We would rather you had an honest number to compare than feel cornered into a decision at the door.
Do you guarantee the work?
Every job is backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee. If the same problem returns, call us and we come back out to make it right. We test our work before leaving rather than packing up the moment it looks finished, which is the main reason callbacks are rare. Parts and equipment carry their manufacturer warranty on top of our own guarantee.
