Rusty water at the tap, pressure that drops when a second fixture opens, a third pinhole leak in two years. At some point patching galvanised or failing copper costs more than replacing it. We repipe homes across Pacifica, San Francisco, and Burlingame, in phases if that suits your budget better.

Whole-Home Repiping in Pacifica, San Francisco and Burlingame
Most of the housing stock we work on was plumbed in galvanised steel, and galvanised has a finish line. It corrodes from the inside, so the bore narrows with scale until pressure suffers, then the thinned wall starts to weep. The tell is discoloured water after the house has sat unused, and pressure that collapses the moment someone else turns on a tap. Once that stage arrives, every repair is buying months.
Copper from the fifties through the seventies has its own pattern. It lasts longer, but where water chemistry or electrolysis has been working on it you get pinholes, and pinholes come in sequence rather than singly. When we are called out to a second or third one in the same house, we say plainly that the repipe is the better spend, because three more spot repairs will cost about the same and you will still have old pipe.
A repipe is disruptive but it is predictable. We walk the run, plan access to minimise wall openings, and can phase the work by floor or by zone if paying for it all at once does not suit. Book a free estimate any time, no obligation.
What’s included
Whole-home repiping in copper or PEX
Galvanised steel replacement
Partial and phased repipes by zone
Main water line and riser replacement
New shut-offs and angle stops throughout
Drywall access planning, patch and cleanup
How the job goes
We survey every run, test pressure and water quality, and map the route that needs the fewest wall openings, then price the full repipe and any phased option.
You approve the price, and our licensed tech does the work from a fully stocked truck, so most jobs finish in a single visit without a parts run.
We pressure test the new system, restore and patch the access points, and hand over a plan of what was run where so future work does not start with guesswork.
Thank you again for another job well done, and thank you for responding right away. I will continue to recommend Works Plumbing because they respond right away and get the job done efficiently.

Why homeowners choose Works
Every repipe comes with upfront pricing, licensed and background-checked technicians, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Works Plumbing holds California contractor license #982663, carries full bonding and insurance, and holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
We are a plumbing-only shop, which means the tech at your door has spent years on this exact work rather than splitting time across three trades. Our crews are drug tested as well as background checked, and dispatch is staffed by real people around the clock. No surprises, no commission-driven upsells, no pressure, ever.
Pro tip
Before committing to a repipe, run the cold tap in a bathroom that has not been used for a day or two and look at the first water out. If it comes out rust coloured and then clears, that discolouration is the inside of your galvanised pipe. It is the clearest sign that scale has taken over the bore, and no amount of localised repair reverses it.

How long does a repipe take and can I stay in the house?
Most single-family repipes run two to four days depending on size, number of bathrooms, and how accessible the runs are. Yes, you can normally stay. We stage the work so water is off for hours rather than days, and we tell you each morning what will be shut down and when. If a stretch requires longer without water we plan it around your day rather than ours.
Copper or PEX?
Both are good systems and we install both. PEX is faster to run, needs fewer wall openings because it flexes around obstacles, resists freeze damage better, and costs less. Copper is rigid, takes longer to install, and costs more, but some owners prefer it and it handles high heat better. For most homes on the Peninsula we would recommend PEX and explain why, but if you want copper you will get copper properly installed.
Can I do it in stages?
Yes, and plenty of customers do. Phasing by floor or by zone, for example doing the bathrooms first and the kitchen and laundry later, spreads the cost while removing the worst of the risk early. It costs slightly more overall than a single visit because of the repeated setup, and we will tell you exactly how much more so you can weigh it. Financing over 12 to 60 months is the other option.
How much drywall will you open?
Less than most people fear, and we plan for it before we start. We map the route to use existing access, cabinets, closets, and attic or crawl space wherever possible. Where we do have to open a wall we cut clean, repairable openings rather than tearing out, and patching is part of the job. We will show you the planned access points on the walkthrough so there are no surprises.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Works Plumbing holds California contractor license #982663, carries full bonding and liability insurance, and is accredited with an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Every technician who comes to your door is background checked and drug tested, and arrives in a marked Works van in uniform. If you want to verify the license before booking, you can look it up on the California Contractors State License Board website.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Plumbing problems do not wait for payday, so you can spread the cost over 12, 24, or 60 months through our financing partners. Approval takes about 60 seconds, runs on a soft credit check that does not affect your score, and there is no prepayment penalty if you clear it early. Qualifying plans include 0% APR for the first 12 months.
