Gas Line Repair and Installation in Pacifica, San Francisco and Burlingame
Two thirds of the gas work we do is new runs for appliances: a range moving to a different wall in a kitchen remodel, a dryer where there was only electric, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, a pool heater. The rest is repair and capacity work, and capacity is the one people do not anticipate. Adding a tankless water heater or a high-output range to a system that was sized for what was there in 1970 frequently means upsizing the supply, because the existing line cannot deliver the volume at the pressure the appliance needs.
All of it is permitted and pressure tested. A gas line is proved by isolating it and holding test pressure for a set period so any loss shows on the gauge, and the work is inspected before it is put into service. That is not bureaucracy, it is the only way to know a joint is sound, and any contractor willing to skip it on gas is telling you something important about the rest of their work.
If you smell gas, leave the building and call PG and E first. Once the supply is safe, we handle the repair. Book a free estimate any time, no obligation.

How the job goes
We check the capacity of your existing system against the appliance demand, plan the route, and quote the full permitted job including testing.
You approve the price, and our licensed tech does the work from a fully stocked truck, so most jobs finish in a single visit without a parts run.
We run and pressure test the line, hold it for the required period, arrange inspection, and commission the appliance before we leave.
Thank you again for another job well done, and thank you for responding right away. I will continue to recommend Works Plumbing because they respond right away and get the job done efficiently.

Why homeowners choose Works
Every gas line job comes with upfront pricing, licensed and background-checked technicians, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Works Plumbing holds California contractor license #982663, carries full bonding and insurance, and holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
We are a plumbing-only shop, which means the tech at your door has spent years on this exact work rather than splitting time across three trades. Our crews are drug tested as well as background checked, and dispatch is staffed by real people around the clock. No surprises, no commission-driven upsells, no pressure, ever.
Pro tip
If you smell gas, do not investigate it yourself. Leave the building, do not touch light switches or anything electrical on the way out, and call PG and E from outside. They will come out at no charge and make the supply safe. Once that is done, call a licensed plumber for the repair. The order matters, and this is the one job where there is no sensible do-it-yourself first step.

Ready to get it fixed?
Upfront pricing, licensed techs, and a real human on the phone 24/7 across the Peninsula.
Leave the building immediately, taking everyone with you, and avoid anything that could create a spark on the way out, which includes light switches, garage door openers, and phones inside the building. Once you are outside and clear, call PG and E. They respond to suspected leaks at no charge and will shut off and secure the supply. After the supply is safe, a licensed plumber handles the repair. Do not try to find it yourself.
Do I need a permit for a new gas line?
Yes. Gas work is permitted in every jurisdiction we operate in, and it requires pressure testing and inspection before the line goes into service. Requirements vary a little between Pacifica, San Francisco, Burlingame, and the smaller Peninsula cities, and we handle the permitting as part of the job. Unpermitted gas work is both a safety issue and a problem that surfaces at sale or insurance claim time.
Can you run a line for an outdoor kitchen or fire pit?
Yes, and it is a common request. Outdoor runs need materials and burial depth appropriate to exterior use, a shut-off in an accessible location, and sizing that accounts for the appliance load at the far end of a longer run, which is where undersized lines usually show up. We also check that adding it does not starve appliances already on the system, which is a calculation rather than a guess.
Why does adding an appliance sometimes mean upsizing the line?
Because a gas line has to deliver a required volume at a required pressure, and that capacity depends on pipe diameter and total run length. A system sized decades ago for a furnace, water heater, and range often has no headroom for a tankless heater or a high-output cooktop. Connecting anyway results in appliances that underperform or fail to fire under simultaneous load. We calculate the demand first and tell you if upsizing is needed before you commit.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Works Plumbing holds California contractor license #982663, carries full bonding and liability insurance, and is accredited with an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Every technician who comes to your door is background checked and drug tested, and arrives in a marked Works van in uniform. If you want to verify the license before booking, you can look it up on the California Contractors State License Board website.
Can you come out today?
Usually yes. We run stocked trucks out of all three of our locations in Pacifica, San Francisco, and Burlingame, so there is generally a van already working near you rather than one dispatched from across the county. We offer same-day service, and dispatch is staffed 24/7 including weekends and holidays. A real person answers the phone, so you will know within minutes whether we can be there today.
